About Kumbh City, Prayagraj

Discover what makes this destination special

Prayagraj, formerly known as Allahabad, is one of India’s oldest and most sacred cities. Located in Uttar Pradesh, it is famous for the Triveni Sangam—the holy confluence of the River Ganga, River Yamuna and the mythical River Saraswati. Pilgrims believe that bathing at the Sangam washes away sins and brings spiritual purification.

The city is internationally known for hosting the Kumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. It also hosts the annual Magh Mela, during which devotees, saints and spiritual seekers stay near the Sangam and participate in sacred bathing rituals, prayers and religious discourses.

Beyond its spiritual importance, Prayagraj has a rich historical and cultural heritage. Major attractions include Allahabad Fort, Akshayavat, Patalpuri Temple, Bade Hanuman Ji Temple, Anand Bhavan, Swaraj Bhavan, Khusro Bagh and All Saints Cathedral. A boat ride at the Sangam offers beautiful views of the rivers, migratory birds and the lively riverbanks.

Prayagraj is also closely connected with India’s freedom movement and the Nehru family. Anand Bhavan, the ancestral home of the Nehru family, has been converted into a museum displaying photographs, personal belongings and important records from India’s struggle for independence.

The best time to visit Prayagraj is from October to March, when the weather is comfortable for sightseeing, pilgrimage and boat rides. Whether you visit for faith, history, culture or peaceful moments beside the rivers, Prayagraj offers an inspiring journey into the spiritual heart of India.
